Why is my positive displacement blower overheating and losing pressure?

Overheating and sudden drops in discharge pressure are usually caused by excessive internal slippage. When the close clearances between the lobes and the casing wear down, pressurized air slips back to the suction side, generating friction heat. We resolve this by using thermal spray to reclaim the housing bore and CNC grinding the lobes back to factory tolerances.

How often should the timing gears be aligned on a Roots rotary lobe blower?

Timing gears must be precision-aligned whenever a blower is overhauled or experiences a sudden torque spike. Incorrect timing leads to rotor-to-rotor contact, casing wear, and total lockup. During our rebuild process, we press-fit and lock the timing gears in-house using specialized jigs to guarantee the lobes maintain exact clearance spacing throughout their 360-degree rotation.

What is involved in the dynamic balancing of a multi-stage centrifugal blower?

Centrifugal blower impellers run at very high speeds and require precise balancing. We mount the fully assembled rotor assembly onto our Schenck dynamic balancing machine and spin it to identify residual unbalance. We balance the assembly to ISO G2.5 specifications to eliminate vibration, reduce bearing load, and prevent shaft fatigue during high-speed operation.
