How do you repair worn scroll flights on a decanter centrifuge?

Continuous processing of abrasive slurries erodes the scroll conveyor flights, reducing solids conveyance efficiency. We rebuild worn flights by applying a high-durability tungsten carbide hard-surfacing matrix via thermal spray. For severe-duty applications, we can install replaceable sintered tungsten carbide tiles along the high-wear edges of the flights to prolong life.

What causes high vibration in a high-speed disc stack separator?

High-speed disc separators operate at G-forces exceeding 5,000 Gs, meaning even minor imbalance causes severe vibration. Common causes include uneven material build-up in the disc stack, worn spindle bearings, or a bent drive spindle. We resolve this by performing a full teardown, laser-straightening the spindle, and statically and dynamically balancing the complete bowl assembly on Schenck balancing equipment.

Can you rebuild a planetary gearbox for a decanter centrifuge back-drive?

Yes. The planetary or cyclo gearbox controls the differential speed between the centrifuge bowl and the scroll conveyor. These gearboxes handle extreme torque loads. We perform complete gear overhauls—disassembling the planetary carrier, replacing all sun and planet gears, installing precision bearings, and setting the exact backlash before full-speed spin testing in our facility.
